Play nowGiving Thanks in the Bible
Thanks is one of the most common themes in Scripture. Psalm 100 invites everyone to enter God's gates with thanksgiving, Psalm 136 repeats "his love endures forever" in every verse, and Paul writes in 1 Thessalonians 5:18 to give thanks in all circumstances. Jesus himself gave thanks before he fed the five thousand and again at the Last Supper.
The Bible also describes real harvest celebrations. Israel kept the Feast of Weeks and the Feast of Tabernacles, and brought the firstfruits of the crops to God. Test what you know with the Thanksgiving Bible quiz, then try the harvest trivia.
Ideas for a Thanksgiving Gathering
Before the meal, read Psalm 100 or Luke 17:11-19 aloud and then play one game together. The word search works well on a tablet passed around the table, and the crossword is a good puzzle for older children and adults. For a group, read the trivia questions aloud and give a point for each correct answer.
You can also ask each person to share one thing they are thankful for, then find a Bible verse about it.
