How to Play the Christmas Word Search
Press on the first letter of a word and drag to its last letter, or tap the first letter and slide your finger across. When the highlighted line matches a word in the list, it turns green and the word is crossed off with a short clue about the Nativity story. Words can be hidden across, down or on a diagonal, and some are written backwards. Tap New Puzzle for a fresh grid with the same words in new places.
The Words in This Puzzle
All 16 words come from the Christmas story in Matthew and Luke: places (Bethlehem, Nazareth), people (Mary, Joseph, Gabriel, Herod, the shepherds), the gifts of the Magi (gold, frankincense and myrrh), and key Christmas words (angel, star, manger, Savior and Emmanuel, which means "God with us"). After you find a word, read its clue and see if you can tell where it appears in the story.
Using the Word Search at Home, Church or School
Put the puzzle on a screen for a class and let children come up to point out the words they find. At home, play it together on a tablet while you talk about the Christmas story. Pair it with the Christmas Bible quiz or the Christmas crossword for a short Advent activity, or try the regular Bible Word Search all year round.
