How to Play the Bible Memory Verse Game

Choose a verse and a level, read the verse out loud, then press Start. Some of the words disappear and become blanks. Tap the missing words in order to rebuild the verse. A wrong word counts as a mistake, and you can use the first-letter hint if you are stuck. When the verse is complete you earn up to three stars.

At Level 1 only a few words are hidden. By Level 4 every word is hidden, so you must know the whole verse. Start at Level 1 and move up each time you finish a verse with no mistakes.

Why Fading Words Help You Memorize Scripture

Reading a verse again and again is not the best way to learn it. Trying to recall the missing words is what builds memory, and that is how this game works. Each level asks you to remember a little more, so you move from reading to recalling in small steps. Say the verse out loud when you finish, and try it once more the next day.

The game uses 28 verses from the King James Version, from short ones like John 11:35 to longer ones like John 3:16 and Joshua 1:9. Use it for a weekly memory verse in Sunday school, or as a family game after supper.
