The Bible Story

God's people were trapped between the Red Sea and Pharaoh's army. Moses told them not to be afraid. God opened a path through the sea, and the people crossed safely.

The story shows that God can make a way when there seems to be none. This game lets everyone walk through the water together.

Verse to remember (Exodus 14:21): God caused the sea to part, and the people walked through on dry ground.

How to Play

  1. Form two long rows of players facing each other, about two arm lengths apart. They are the water.
  2. The leader plays Moses. Moses lifts his arms, and the water players sway gently and lift their hands to make waves.
  3. The rest of the group are the Israelites. They line up at one end of the path.
  4. When Moses says "Go!", the Israelites walk through the path calmly, with the water swaying on both sides.
  5. At the other end, everyone cheers and says "Thank you, God!"
  6. Swap roles so that everyone gets to be water and to walk through.

How it ends: Sit down and ask what it felt like to walk between the waves. Remind the group that God led them through.

Leader can say: “When we cannot see a way, God can still make a path for us.”

For Every Age

For little ones: Let little ones be the Israelites first, holding the hand of a helper. Water players should stay slow and gentle.

For teens and adults: Older players can read Exodus 14 aloud while the crossing happens, and talk about trusting God in hard times.

Safety: Water players keep their hands high and never touch the walkers. The walkers go slowly, one at a time or in pairs.

Talk About It

After the game, sit together and ask:

  • How did the Israelites feel at the edge of the sea?
  • When have you needed God to make a way?
  • What do you think they said when they reached the other side?
