Queen Esther Brave Steps Game

Esther was a Jewish girl who became queen of Persia. A wicked man named Haman planned to harm her people. Esther knew she could be in danger if she spoke to the king without being invited, but she bravely went to him and God used her to save her people.

The story shows that courage matters, even when we are afraid. This game lets everyone take brave steps with Esther.

Verse to remember (Esther 4:14): Mordecai told Esther that she might have become queen for such a time as this.

1. One player is the king and sits or stands at the far end. The rest are Esther's helpers at the other end.
2. The leader asks a question about the story, such as "Who was Esther's cousin?" (Mordecai). A player who answers correctly takes one brave step forward.
3. If the king raises a hand, everyone freezes. Anyone who moves goes back one step.
4. When a player reaches the king, the king says "You may speak!" and the player says "God is with us!"
5. That player becomes the next king and the game starts again.
6. Play until everyone has had a turn near the king.

How it ends: Cheer together for Esther. Ask what made her brave, and who in your own life needs brave helpers.

Leader can say: “Esther did something hard because it was right. We can be brave in small ways too.”

For little ones: Let little ones take a step for any answer or simply for trying. A helper can walk with them.

For teens and adults: Older players can read parts of Esther 4 and 5 and talk about speaking up for others.

Safety: Take slow, careful steps and do not run. Keep the path free of bags and chairs.

After the game, sit together and ask:

• How do you think Esther felt before she went to the king?
• Who was brave with her?
• What is one brave thing you can do this week?
