Ten Commandments Number Game

God gave Moses the Ten Commandments on Mount Sinai. They are rules that show people how to love God and love each other.

The commandments are easier to learn when we use our fingers and say them aloud. This game helps the group remember them in simple words.

Verse to remember (Exodus 20:1-3): God spoke these words to the people, and the first was that they should have no other gods.

1. Teach the commandments in short, simple words. Use a short list that your church uses, and say each with a number.
2. Hold up one finger and say the first commandment together. Add a finger for each next one.
3. The leader calls a number from one to ten. The group says what that commandment is.
4. The first player to answer correctly scores a point. Younger players can have a helper.
5. Next, the leader says a commandment and the group holds up the right number of fingers.
6. Play until every person has answered at least once.

How it ends: Finish by saying all ten together, slowly. Remind the group that the commandments help us love God and others.

Leader can say: “These ten rules were God's gift to help people live well together.”

For little ones: Learn two or three commandments at a time, such as honour your parents or do not steal, with a simple action for each.

For teens and adults: Older players can talk about what each commandment means in daily life, and which Jesus said are most important.

Safety: Keep the pace calm so that nobody feels rushed or embarrassed. Praise every answer, even partial ones.

After the game, sit together and ask:

• Which commandment is easiest to remember?
• How do the commandments help families?
• What does it mean to love God first?
